Altering Images

One of the easiest ways to alter the look of a phpLinkBid site is to alter the images using photo or web design software such as photoshop or fireworks.


It is easiest to work on your design after your site as been installed and setup properly.

1. Inside your hosting account under your file manager and domain look for the file named "tpl" and click on it.

2. You should see at least one file called "phplb" (This is the templates name). Please note that if you are planning on using a uploaded template you will need to click that file instead of "phplb". If you are planning on using the phplb template click on it now.

3. Now look for the file "images" and click on it.

4. Inside this image file you will see all of your images that you will see on your website's pages. By comparing your site, and the viewing the images you will become familiar with the images and your creativity can begin.

5. You can download the image through your hosting account, or view the image and right click it once until a drop down menu appears. Select "Save Image As..."
Leave the name the same, so once the image has been altered it will appear on your site.

6. Use your favorite design program and alter your image and be creative. For beginners it is best to leave the image the same size as the original is. If your unsure, right click the original image and select..."Properties" This should tell you the height and width of the image of which you may want to make a note of.

7. After you are satisfied with your image you will need to upload it. Return to the "images" folder if your not still there and click upload. It may ask if you want to overwrite the original...click "yes".

8. Now you have customized your phpLinkBid Site and have taken a small step into the bigger world of web design. Continue to alter with as many images as you feel like and return to the site often to check and plan your progress.

if you mess, up or change something you did not want to...you can always upload the original file from your computer.
